Elm wood varies in color between almost white and deep brown. This mill was made from the wood of a young elm from the Danube floodplain forest. The wood is still almost white, streaked with dark speckles of a grain structure.

Burl woods are natural gimmicks and occur either in so-called burl bulbs or in whole grained trunks. Measles bulbs are wart-like growths on tree trunks, as you often see them on avenue trees. A cluster of “dormant” buds or wild growth of hundreds of small branches at the same time.
